Earlier this month, Prince William shared a charming detail while petting a well-wisher’s dog during a visit to Duchy College in Cornwall. Alongside their beloved dog Orla, William and Kate also have a guinea pig in their family

The Prince and Princess of Wales, who are known for carefully guarding their family’s privacy at Adelaide Cottage, have been residing in the five-bedroom Windsor home for over two years with their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—as well as their cherished cocker spaniel, Orla. Though they have kept their private life mostly out of the public eye, Prince William recently offered a rare peek into their bedtime routine during an event.

While visiting Duchy College, Prince William spoke with Louise Harland and her dog, Jacks, sharing that Orla often sleeps on the bed with him and Kate, as he revealed to Hits Radio Cornwall.

Louise explained, “[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate. [He was] absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he’s never met one of those breeds, he’s a Cockerjack, so he’s a little bit of a unique combination.”

Orla wasn’t the first dog to join William and Kate’s family. Before Orla, they had Lupo, a beloved dog gifted to them by Kate’s brother James, who sadly passed away in November 2020.

In 2022, Orla appeared in a special photo with Princess Charlotte to mark her seventh birthday in May. In 2023, the pair also accompanied Prince William and Kate to a polo match, showing their strong bond with the family.

The Wales family, it seems, are animal lovers, according to the Mirror.

Earlier in the year, Prince William enjoyed spending time with various animals, including some guinea pigs, during a visit to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm. He even brushed a guinea pig named Snowflake.

While chatting with people at the farm, the prince shared a bit about life at home, saying, “These guys are pretty cool. We’ve got guinea pigs at home and they are not like this.”

He added, sharing a relatable parenting task, “I have to spend my life cleaning out the guinea pig cage because the children forget to do it. And then they run off because you have to handle them all the time, that’s why these ones are so calm. The ones we’ve got at home, they’re off. You have to keep them constantly stroked and looked after.”
