Behind Closed Doors

Guests Thought They Were Watching The Groom’s Mother Being Humiliated At A Million-Dollar Wedding — Until The Bride’s Smile Vanished, Phones Started Ringing Across The Garden, And Everyone Learned That The Quiet Woman Controlled The Entire Family Fortune And Had Just Exposed A Secret Plan To Transfer The Family’s Assets Into The Bride’s Name

Part 2 of 3

Helena took a step forward.

“I protected my family.”

“What does that mean?”

“It means that I own the family trust, and I have frozen every transaction connected to it.”

The garden became completely silent.

Grant looked at his mother in disbelief.

“Mother, what are you talking about?”

Helena touched her phone again, and a video call appeared on the screen.

An older attorney wearing a navy-blue suit adjusted his glasses before speaking.

“Mrs. Holloway, everything has been completed exactly as requested.”

The guests looked at one another nervously.

Nobody understood what was happening.

Not yet.

Secrets Hidden Behind Smiles

The attorney continued speaking.

“Three months ago, our office discovered multiple attempts to transfer assets belonging to the Holloway family trust.”

Brielle’s face lost its color.

Grant stared at the screen.

“Assets?”

“Properties, investments, and future inheritance distributions.”

“That can’t be true,” Brielle interrupted.

The attorney remained calm.

“We have the documents, the authorizations, and the records.”

The celebration suddenly felt more like a courtroom.

Grant slowly turned toward his bride.

For the first time in many months, he truly looked at her.

Not at her beautiful smile.

Not at her expensive dress.

At the person standing behind both of them.

“Brielle, tell me this isn’t true.”

She lowered her eyes.

The silence that followed was more painful than any answer.

A Conversation Nobody Knew About

Helena folded her hands quietly.

“I didn’t do this because of the wine.”

Everyone listened carefully.

“Six months ago, I invited Brielle to lunch because I wanted us to become friends.”

Grant blinked in surprise.

He had never heard about that meeting.

Helena continued speaking.

“I explained that our family wasn’t built upon money. My late husband started with a small machine repair shop. We struggled for years before life became easier.”

She looked directly at Brielle.

“I told you that all I wanted was for you to love my son sincerely.”

Brielle pressed her lips together.

Helena sighed softly.

“Do you remember your answer?”

Nobody spoke.

“You said that love alone couldn’t provide the life you wanted.”

“That’s not exactly what I meant,” Brielle whispered.

“Then tell everyone what you meant.”

Again, Brielle remained silent.

Grant felt his heart sink.

The Truth About The Lake House

The attorney adjusted his glasses once more.

“There is something else.”

Everyone looked toward the screen.

“Two weeks ago, documents were submitted to transfer ownership of the family’s lake house after the marriage.”

Grant stepped backward.

The lake house had belonged to his father.

Every family celebration had taken place there.

His childhood memories lived inside those walls.

“No…” he murmured.

The attorney nodded gently.

“Fortunately, the transfer was stopped before it could be completed.”
