Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to extend an invitation to the British royals to visit the United States, following his high-profile UK state visit last week — and the news has sparked one major question.

The former US President spent two days in the UK, where he enjoyed a carriage procession through Windsor Castle’s grounds and attended a lavish state banquet.

Trump and his wife, Melania, were hosted not only by King Charles III and Queen Camilla but also by Prince William and Kate Middleton.

White House Invitation for 2026 Celebration

Trump, it seems, was delighted with the royal treatment, as reports suggest he now plans to invite the royals to the White House next year to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4.

According to The Independent, if the King’s diary does not allow for the trip, the Prince of Wales is expected to attend in his place.

The Question of Harry and Meghan

However, the possible US visit has prompted speculation about whether King Charles might also carve out time to see Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to California in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, citing mistreatment and bullying from within the institution.

Despite years of tension, Harry has recently expressed a willingness to repair the family rift. In May, he admitted he did not want ongoing conflict and said he would “love reconciliation.”

Earlier this month, Harry even sat down with his father for afternoon tea during a trip to the UK — their first face-to-face meeting in 19 months. When asked later by a reporter how the King was doing, Harry smiled and replied: “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”

Fans Debate the Possibility of a California Stop

The prospect of Charles heading to the US reignited debate online. On Reddit, one user asked: “Will King Charles make time for Prince Harry, Meghan and the children if he does go to the USA?”

Others were doubtful. “No he won’t, he only spent 55 mins with him face to face. Trump spent 2 days with the King, lol!” one wrote. Another added: “He wouldn’t make the time when they lived in England, so…no.”

Some pointed to the sheer geography involved: “DC and LA are farther apart than any 2 spots in the UK. People outside of the US forget just how big this country is. If the King’s business only takes him to DC, he’d have to add on another trip out to California. That’s much harder than arranging a quick tea in the same city.”

They concluded: “If anything, it would likely be easier for Harry and the family to meet the King in DC or a surrounding area.”

For now, no official announcement has been made about the King’s attendance or whether he might take time to see his younger son and family while in the US. Until then, speculation will continue to swirl.
