Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton ‘considering legal options’ over Prince George play

Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly exploring legal options in response to a new theatrical production centered on their eldest son, Prince George.

Known for being fiercely protective of their children’s privacy, the royal couple is said to be deeply concerned about how the play depicts their 11-year-old son.

Protecting the Young Royals

William and Kate are parents to three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. While their family has inevitably grown up in the public eye, the Prince and Princess of Wales have made a consistent effort to shield them from undue attention, particularly when it comes to personal or inappropriate portrayals.

Concerns around privacy and safety have long surrounded the royal family. Prince Harry has also taken steps to keep his children out of the spotlight, though they have begun to appear more recently in Meghan Markle’s online content. Now, William and Kate appear to be facing their own privacy battle involving Prince George.

A Shocking New Play

The controversy stems from a play titled Prince F (also referred to as Prince [bleep]), written by Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill. The story imagines a fictional version of Prince George at age 18, who goes by the nickname “Tips,” and follows him as he brings his boyfriend, Dev, home to meet his royal parents.

The play, which debuted in June at Playwrights Horizons, features British actor John McCrea as George and Mihir Kumar as Dev. Interestingly, Prince William and Kate are portrayed by African-American actor K Todd Freeman and actress Rachel Crowl. The play also references Dev as “another Meghan,” drawing a clear line to real royal figures and controversies.

The production includes nudity and intimate scenes, with audience members reportedly required to place their phones in lockable pouches to prevent recordings. Since its premiere, the play has received significant backlash, prompting royal insiders to speak out.

Legal Steps Being Considered

According to The National Enquirer, William and Kate are actively consulting legal advisors regarding the play. A senior royal insider described the situation as far beyond artistic freedom:

“This isn’t freedom of expression. It is exploitation of a minor for shock value. He is a child. Leave him alone.”

A source close to the royal family added that King Charles III has been briefed and the situation is being taken seriously:

“William and Catherine are extremely distressed. They are absolutely looking at their legal options. Enough is enough.
There are clear lines when it comes to children – especially public figures who never asked for fame. This crosses every one of them.”

Public Outrage

The reaction online has also been one of discomfort and outrage. On Reddit, users condemned the play for using a real, underage royal as the inspiration for explicit content.

One commenter wrote:

“Interesting concept. Really grossed out that the playwright decided to use the basis of the main character on a real person. And one who is a minor no less. Feels wrong and is giving me the ick.”

Another user added:

“Yeah this is… not something I feel okay about. He is eleven.”

As the controversy continues, representatives for the Prince and Princess of Wales have yet to issue an official comment, but it’s clear that legal action is very much on the table.
