Ed Sheeran Is Officially A Dad Now & The Baby’s Name Is So Sweet

A huge congratulations is in order for Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn! The couple has officially welcomed their first child, and Sheeran’s heartfelt message about their newborn is sure to bring a smile to your face.

On September 1, the singer took to Instagram to share the joyous news, melting the hearts of fans worldwide. Fair warning—you might want to grab some tissues before reading his sweet announcement about Cherry Seaborn giving birth.

Sheeran’s Instagram post featured an image of two tiny blue baby socks resting on a quilt. In his caption, he assured fans that their baby arrived safely and in good health, while also revealing her name.

“Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran,” Sheeran wrote.

He continued, “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”

While Sheeran didn’t share a photo of baby Lyra just yet, this isn’t surprising given his preference for keeping his personal life out of the spotlight. He quietly married Seaborn in 2018, waiting until July 2019 to reveal details about their wedding.

The couple also kept news of their pregnancy under wraps for most of Cherry’s term. It wasn’t until August 11, just three weeks before Lyra’s arrival, that The Sun broke the news. “They’re very excited but have kept things very low key,” a source told the outlet at the time.

Sheeran hinted at his plans to step back from the public eye in December 2019 when he announced a break from his career. It seems his time off was spent preparing for his new role as a dad. Now that their little one has finally arrived, fans are eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of baby Lyra.
