King Charles Reveals Painful Truth About His Cancer Journey

King Charles has shared a deeply heartbreaking update about his battle with cancer.

At 76 years old, he opened up with some very personal words about his health, 15 months after first being diagnosed.

On April 30th, cancer survivors were invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate the incredible work of local, community-run cancer groups.

Charles wrote a touching message, thanking those who “selflessly” offer care and comfort to the 390,000 people diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK.

Each diagnosis, each new case, will be a daunting and at times frightening experience for those individuals and their loved ones,” he wrote.

As one among those statistics myself, I can vouch for the fact that it can also be an experience that brings into sharp focus the very best of humanity,” he writes.

It has certainly given me an even deeper appreciation of the extraordinary work undertaken by the remarkable organisations and individuals gathered here this evening, many of whom I have known, visited and supported over the years.

And it has reinforced what I have long observed during these visits – that the darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion.”

He also added, “You have my whole family’s deepest admiration and gratitude.”

The King was first diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer in January 2024, after undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate.

According to his aides, his recovery is going very well, which is reflected in the busy schedule of national and international events he’s currently taking part in.
