Queen Camilla’s sister gives rare one-word insight into King Charles’s marriage

Queen Camilla’s sister, Annabel Elliot, has shared a rare perspective on the Queen’s relationship with King Charles.

Describing their bond during a BBC interview for a new documentary, she called Camilla the King’s “rock,” and went on to say she’s the “yin” to his “yang,” adding that theirs is a “brilliant” marriage. She also noted that while Camilla offers unwavering support, Charles has introduced his wife to new “knowledge and interest.”

Richard Jackson, the Bishop of Hereford—one of the two bishops who assisted Queen Camilla during the coronation—also shared his thoughts about the royal couple in the documentary.

He shared his impression, saying: “I think what struck me particularly is how extraordinarily affectionate they are. They’re clearly a very close family of all the generations and in a sense you felt you were part of a family occasion as well as royal occasion and a national occasion.”

Ms. Elliot, the Queen’s younger sister, also reflected on the couple’s bond, noting that even though they have a deep connection, their personalities are quite different.

“She is his rock, and I can’t actually emphasise that enough. She is somebody who is completely loyal, and she isn’t somebody who has huge highs and lows,” she said.

She went on to explain that the King includes her in every aspect of his life—not just in formal settings, but across the board—underscoring just how important her steady presence is to him.

Charles III: The Coronation Year offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the King’s coronation, including rehearsal moments and the touching scene where the Prince and Princess of Wales arrive at Westminster Abbey with their children, greeting the King just like any other family would.

In a heartwarming moment not often seen in public, King Charles warmly embraces each of his grandchildren—starting with Princess Charlotte, then Prince George, and finally little Prince Louis, who eagerly reaches out for a hug.

The documentary also features Fiona, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, sharing her thoughts on the royal couple. Speaking to the BBC, she said: “Whether they’ve sort of had to fight to get there, or whether it’s…” She went on to add that their bond is clearly strong and built on mutual support, especially evident during the coronation.
