According to Newsweek’s royal correspondent Jack Royston, the Palace’s handling of the situation contributed to the media frenzy.

“The secrecy Kensington Palace created only fueled wild speculation online,” Royston explained on Good Morning Britain. “TMZ knew they would make a fortune off these pictures because there was a massive demand for them. That’s why photographers were willing to take the risk.”

He argued that the Palace could have put an end to the rumors long ago.

“Kate could have taken a simple selfie. William could have taken a quick photo or video, just like King Charles did,” Royston said. “Instead, they let this snowball into a massive situation. If they had gotten ahead of it, they would have actually protected Kate better.”

Royal Experts Weigh In

Some experts find the situation suspicious. Royal author Christopher Andersen questioned why, if Kate is truly recovering well, she has not made a public appearance.

“Keep in mind, members of the royal family are known for keeping up appearances regardless of their health,” he told Fox News. “Queen Elizabeth never disappeared for months, even when dealing with serious medical issues. The secrecy around Kate’s surgery only makes the mystery deeper.”

While Kate values her privacy, Andersen believes it wouldn’t have hurt to show herself briefly to quiet the speculation.

“Maybe this experience has made her rethink what’s truly important—spending time with her children,” he suggested. “But for someone so skilled at handling the press, her absence raises serious questions. What in God’s name is going on?”

Royal commentator Daniela Elser also believes the TMZ photo hints at something bigger.

“It’s sad to think Kate may have felt pressured to be seen in public just to calm the hysteria,” she wrote. “The internet’s wild theories have altered the plan for her recovery.”

Adding to the controversy, Prince William recently canceled a royal duty due to a personal matter, making the situation even murkier.

“William contributed to this mess—why isn’t he helping clear it up?” Elser asked. “Why has it fallen to Kate, who underwent serious surgery, to dispel the ridiculous theories?”

She questioned whether the photo showed a woman ready to return or one being forced into the public eye.

“Princesses may have luxury and diamonds, but do they truly have freedom? Maybe there’s no such thing as a free ten-bedroom Norfolk estate after all. Everything has a price,” Elser concluded.
