Prince William reveals Prince Louis’ hilarious remark about school

Prince Louis and his siblings have returned to school after a restful Christmas break spent with their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton. The family endured a tough year in 2024, with Kate’s cancer battle, and one can only hope that 2025 will be a bit less challenging for them.

With Kate now cancer-free, many anticipate she will return to her royal duties. However, reports suggest that she’ll continue to prioritize her children—George, Charlotte, and Louis—after the past year shifted her perspective on what truly matters.

George, Charlotte, and Louis all attend Lambrook School, and with George soon to be the first to graduate, a big conversation between William and Kate has come up. Meanwhile, they’re doing their best to support their children, but according to William, Louis and his siblings often give an unexpected response when they come home from school.

The year 2024 was particularly tough for George, Charlotte, and Louis. In February, their mother, Kate, was diagnosed with cancer. While Kate and William explained what cancer was to their young children, it’s understandable that the concept might have been hard for them to fully grasp.

Kate joyfully announced in September that she was cancer-free, bringing relief to the entire family. The holidays allowed the family to unwind, and William and Kate cherished their time with their children during Christmas.

What’s next for the family is uncertain, but reports indicate that William and Kate intend to focus on their family life and children, despite their royal responsibilities. Royal expert Ingrid Seward told Hello! Magazine that the couple will likely surprise their children with extra treats in 2025.

“Kate will want to spoil them a bit, because it’s very frightening for children when their parents are that ill, so I think they will be up for a few treats this year,” she said. “I think William and Kate might take the children skiing during the Easter holidays and will probably plan a big summer holiday, because as far as we know, they didn’t go anywhere last year.”

Encouraging Playfulness in Public

William and Kate are known for encouraging their children to have fun in public. Royal and body language expert Judi James explained that George, Charlotte, and Louis are encouraged to be playful and spontaneous, even cheeky, in public.

“George, Charlotte, and Louis are not only allowed to be playful, fun, spontaneous, and even cheeky in public, they are actively encouraged by their mum and dad, who often look at their most proud and doting when they are doing so,” James told The Daily Mail in 2023.

Kate and William are doing their best to give their children as normal a childhood as possible, despite the extraordinary nature of their lives. As William put it in 2016, “As far as we are concerned within our family unit, we are a normal family. I love my children in the same way any father does, and I hope George loves me the same way any son does his father. We are very normal in that sense.”

School Life and Transitions

While the Middleton children are royal, they also have family members from more modest backgrounds. Their school, Lambrook, allows them to have a relatively normal experience, though George will soon be leaving for another school. This has caused some tension between William and Kate, as it’s likely that Charlotte and Louis will face similar transitions in the future.

Traditionally, royal children either attended private boarding schools or were homeschooled. Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, both attended Ludgrove School and later Eton. Prince George has already been seen visiting Eton, where tuition is around £46,000 ($59,000) a year.

Though George won’t attend Eton until he’s 13, he needs to be registered by age 10, which has stirred discussions among the royal family. While Kate is reportedly upset about the idea of sending George to boarding school, she has reluctantly agreed to his wish.

Louis’ Interests and School Updates

Prince Louis, the youngest of William and Kate’s children, is currently at Lambrook, where he is exploring new hobbies. Music seems to be his primary interest, with William joking about how Louis is learning the drums, which can be quite noisy at home.

Louis’ school life hasn’t been discussed as much as his older siblings, but William did share a humorous update about what his children tell him after school. When William asked them about their day, the response was often “nothing.”

The Future for Prince Louis

As Prince Louis grows, there’s speculation about whether he will take on royal duties. However, according to royal expert Jennie Bond, William and Kate will likely encourage Louis to chart his own path, possibly outside of the royal fold.

“They will encourage Louis to explore life outside the royal fold… it could be the military, but it could also be working in the charity world or whatever he finds appealing after his education,” Bond told The Mirror in April last year.

William and Kate want Louis to have a fulfilling life, and they’ll ensure he understands the importance of empathy and service to others, no matter his place in the line of succession.
