New bombshell proposal could keep Donald Trump president until 2032 if passed

Donald Trump has only been back in office for a few days, but there are already calls for him to remain as president until 2032.

After his inauguration in Washington D.C. on Monday, January 20, the 78-year-old quickly signed a wave of executive orders aimed at significantly altering the direction of the United States. From withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization to implementing policies like barring transgender women from being housed in female prisons, Trump has wasted no time pushing forward his agenda.

During his inauguration speech, Trump declared, “The golden age of America starts now.” However, some believe that achieving this so-called “golden age” might require more than the standard four-year term.

In light of this, U.S. Representative Andy Ogles has proposed a change to the 22nd Amendment that would permit Trump to run for a third presidential term. Currently, the Constitution limits presidents to two terms.

Ogles released a statement on January 23 addressing his proposal: “President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years. He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal.”

He continued, “To that end, I am proposing an amendment to the Constitution to revise the limitations imposed by the 22nd Amendment on presidential terms. This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs.”

Ogles also emphasized the urgency of supporting Trump’s efforts to correct what he described as the “disastrous course set by the Biden Administration.” According to Ogles, undoing the damage and addressing the “relentless abuses” of the previous administration could take a decade.

In his proposal, Ogles suggested altering the language of the 22nd Amendment to state: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

For this amendment to take effect, it would need to be approved by both the House of Representatives and the Senate before being signed into law by the president. However, the timeline for this process remains uncertain.
