Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Make $50K Donation Connected to Their Next Netflix Project

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made a heartfelt contribution to the Ugandan children’s dance troupe featured in their upcoming Netflix documentary.

On November 12, the couple’s Archewell Foundation donated $50,000 to Masaka Kids Africana through GoFundMe.

Founded in 2020, the Archewell Foundation embodies Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41’s mission to “show up and do good.” Their generous donation comes just weeks before the documentary’s premiere.

That same day, Netflix released the trailer for Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within, which debuts on December 9.

The film is produced by Archewell Productions — Meghan and Harry’s media company — with the Duke and Duchess serving as producers. Meghan even shared an early preview with fans via her Instagram Stories.

When the project was first announced, it was revealed that the couple discovered Masaka Kids Africana during the pandemic, watching the troupe’s viral dance videos with their son, Prince Archie, now 6.

The Ugandan performers — many of whom are orphans — became online sensations, quickly earning admiration from the Sussex family.

“They would often watch the videos with Archie at home. They were already fans before the film idea came to them in 2023,” a spokesperson told The Telegraph in August.

The announcement of Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within came as part of Harry and Meghan’s August update with Netflix, confirming a multi-year first-look deal for new film and TV projects under Archewell Productions.

It was also revealed that Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan would return for a second season (which premiered in September), along with a holiday special set to arrive on December 3.

This update followed speculation that their original $100 million Netflix deal would not be renewed. Industry sources clarified that the shift was part of Netflix’s evolving strategy, which now favors first-look agreements — similar to the one made with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions.
